Who We Are...

(A.B.A.T.E. stands for Alliance of Bikers Aimed Towards Education)

ABATE of Pennsylvania is a non-profit, motorcycle-rights organization dedicated to preserving freedom of choice and freedom of the road with an emphasis on education and safety.

Our members are involved, both actively and in supportive roles, with the legislative government at both the state and federal levels.  We monitor proposed legislation on such issues as helmet laws, centralized emissions testing, road construction safety, vehicle modification, and motorcycle parking, to name a few.We promote voter registration and participation in the electoral process, and encourage involvement in the campaigns of those who support our positions.

In addition to promoting a positive public image of motorcyclist groups, we coordinate and support activities, outside and within our group, - toy drives, fund raisers, friendship runs, and police survivor/memorial rides - to benefit the less fortunate.  Most noteworthy of these is our annual Toys for Tots parade which provided over 100,000 toys “For the Kids” in 1999 alone.

Membership is open to all people (regardless of sex, race, religion, or transport mode of preference) interested in furthering the purposes of ABATE of Pennsylvania.  There are NO restrictions regarding brand of motorcycle owned nor is motorcycle ownership required.  Members are eligible for any and all benefits of ABATE of Pennsylvania upon receipt of a membership card.  Members may join by sending an application to the state office in Harrisburg or through any chapter and choose to be affiliated with any chapter.
